SCHERTZ, TX — The Samuel Clemens Buffaloes put on an offensive clinic in their home opener on Friday night, cruising to a dominant 50-22 victory over the SA Roosevelt Rough Riders.

From the opening whistle, Clemens controlled the tempo and overwhelmed the Roosevelt defense, building an insurmountable 42-6 lead by halftime that effectively put the game out of reach.

Mencke and Davis Lead the Attack

The Buffaloes' offense was remarkably efficient, spearheaded by quarterback Carter Mencke. Mencke picked apart the Roosevelt secondary, throwing for 150 yards and two touchdowns on just 14 pass attempts.

On the ground, Clemens was virtually unstoppable, churning out 302 rushing yards as a team. Running back Daunte Davis set the tone out of the backfield, gashing the Rough Riders for 91 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.

Looking Ahead

With the win, Clemens starts the 2026 campaign at 1-0 and will look to keep the momentum going when they host Churchill on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, SA Roosevelt (0-1) drops its fifth straight game dating back to last season and will look to regroup as they prepare to face East Central next week.
